Calibration of Pressure, Temperature, and Flow Measuring Instruments

09 – 13 Feb. 2026, Dubai13 – 17 July 2026, Abu Dhabi

COURSE OVERVIEW:

The Calibration of Pressure, Temperature, and Flow Measuring Instruments course is a specialized technical program designed to ensure the accuracy and traceability of the three most critical variables in industrial processing. Industrial efficiency and safety depend entirely on the reliability of sensor data; therefore, understanding the rigorous methodologies of calibration is essential for any technical professional. This course explores the scientific principles of metrology, focusing on how to minimize measurement uncertainty and maintain compliance with international standards such as ISO 17025.

The scope of this training provides a comprehensive hands-on guide to the tools and techniques used in a modern calibration laboratory and in-situ field environments. Participants will examine the use of deadweight testers, dry block calibrators, and flow loop standards. The curriculum covers the entire calibration process, from identifying zero and span errors to calculating hysteresis and linearity. By understanding the physical properties of the media being measured—whether it be the thermal dynamics of a thermocouple or the fluid mechanics of an orifice plate—attendees will learn to identify the root causes of instrument drift.

This coverage also emphasizes the administrative and digital aspects of calibration management. The course details how to document calibration certificates, manage calibration intervals based on drift analysis, and utilize smart communicators for HART and Fieldbus devices. Participants will learn how to bridge the gap between physical measurement and the digital signal received by the control system. By the end of the program, attendees will be proficient in maintaining a high-integrity measurement infrastructure that supports quality control, safety, and regulatory requirements.

COURSE OBJECTIVES:

After completion of this course, the participants will be able to:

  • Define the principles of metrology, including traceability, accuracy, and precision.
  • Perform high-precision calibration of pressure transmitters using deadweight testers.
  • Calibrate various temperature sensors, including RTDs and Thermocouples using dry blocks.
  • Utilize master meters and prover loops for the calibration of flow measuring devices.
  • Identify and correct zero, span, linearity, and hysteresis errors in field instruments.
  • Apply international standards (ISO/IEC 17025) to calibration procedures and records.
  • Calculate measurement uncertainty and determine "Pass/Fail" criteria.
  • Use HART and Foundation Fieldbus communicators for digital instrument configuration.
  • Manage calibration intervals through systematic drift and reliability analysis.
  • Troubleshoot faulty instruments that fail to meet calibration specifications.
  • Document comprehensive calibration certificates and audit trails.
  • Ensure the safety of personnel during high-pressure and high-temperature calibration.

TARGET AUDIENCE:

This course is designed for Instrumentation Technicians, Calibration Engineers, Quality Control Specialists, Laboratory Supervisors, and Maintenance Personnel responsible for the accuracy of industrial measurement systems.

TRAINING COURSE METHODOLOGY:

A highly interactive combination of lectures, discussion sessions, and case studies will be employed to maximize the transfer of information, knowledge, and experience. The course will be intensive, practical, and highly interactive. The sessions will start by raising the most relevant questions and motivating everybody to find the right answers. The attendants will also be encouraged to raise more of their questions and to share in developing the right answers using their analysis and experience. There will also be some indoor experiential activities to enhance the learning experience. Course material will be provided in PowerPoint, with necessary animations, learning videos, and general discussions.

The course participants shall be evaluated before, during, and at the end of the course.

COURSE CERTIFICATE:

National Consultant Centre for Training LLC (NCC) will issue an Attendance Certificate to all participants completing a minimum of 80% of the total attendance time requirement.
