Advanced SCADA System (Design, Commissioning, Startup, Troubleshooting)

02 – 06 Feb. 2026, Abu Dhabi03 – 07 Aug. 2026, Cairo

COURSE OVERVIEW:

The Advanced SCADA System course provides an exhaustive exploration of modern Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition architectures used to manage large-scale industrial infrastructures. This program focuses on the transition from legacy telemetry to integrated, high-speed digital environments that require robust design and seamless execution. Participants will examine the intricate layers of SCADA, including Remote Terminal Units (RTUs), Master Terminal Units (MTUs), and the communication pipelines that connect them, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of how to build and maintain resilient monitoring systems.

The scope of this training extends beyond basic monitoring to encompass the rigorous phases of system commissioning and initial startup operations. It addresses the engineering requirements for hardware integration, database configuration, and the development of high-performance Human Machine Interfaces (HMIs). Attendees will learn the protocols for verifying signal integrity across vast geographical distances and the methodologies for synchronizing complex data streams. This ensures that the SCADA system provides accurate, real-time situational awareness for critical decision-making in utilities, energy, and manufacturing sectors.

This coverage includes a deep dive into systematic troubleshooting and the long-term optimization of SCADA environments. The course identifies common failure points in wide-area networks, protocol conversion errors, and hardware malfunctions that can lead to system downtime. By mastering diagnostic tools and analytical techniques, participants will be equipped to resolve complex technical issues rapidly. Furthermore, the curriculum addresses the integration of modern security standards and redundant configurations to safeguard the system against both physical and cyber-disruptions.

COURSE OBJECTIVES:

After completion of this course, the participants will be able to:

  • Design a scalable SCADA architecture that meets specific industrial performance requirements.
  • Configure and program Remote Terminal Units (RTUs) for efficient data acquisition and control.
  • Implement advanced communication protocols including DNP3, IEC 60870-5-104, and Modbus TCP/IP.
  • Develop high-performance HMI displays that follow situational awareness and ISA 101 standards.
  • Execute a comprehensive commissioning plan for new SCADA hardware and software installations.
  • Manage the startup phase of a SCADA system to ensure zero-loss data synchronization.
  • Troubleshoot wide-area network (WAN) connectivity issues and telemetry failures.
  • Integrate redundant Master Terminal Units (MTUs) and failover mechanisms for high availability.
  • Perform database optimization to handle high-frequency data logging and historical archiving.
  • Analyze SCADA system logs to identify root causes of intermittent communication dropouts.
  • Apply cybersecurity best practices to secure SCADA access points and field communication.
  • Validate system performance against Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) during the hand-over phase.

TARGET AUDIENCE:

This course is specifically designed for SCADA Engineers, Control System Technicians, Electrical Engineers, Telemetry Specialists, and Automation Project Managers involved in the design, implementation, and support of large-scale supervisory systems.

TRAINING COURSE METHODOLOGY:

A highly interactive combination of lectures, discussion sessions, and case studies will be employed to maximize the transfer of information, knowledge, and experience. The course will be intensive, practical, and highly interactive. The sessions will start by raising the most relevant questions and motivating everybody to find the right answers. The attendants will also be encouraged to raise more of their questions and to share in developing the right answers using their analysis and experience. There will also be some indoor experiential activities to enhance the learning experience. Course material will be provided in PowerPoint, with necessary animations, learning videos, and general discussions.

The course participants shall be evaluated before, during, and at the end of the course.

COURSE CERTIFICATE:

National Consultant Centre for Training LLC (NCC) will issue an Attendance Certificate to all participants completing a minimum of 80% of the total attendance time requirement.
