Integrated Interpretation Workshop: Seismic, Well Logs, and Geological Models

05 – 09 Jan. 2026, Abu Dhabi06 – 10 July 2026, Abu Dhabi

COURSE OVERVIEW:

Integrated Interpretation Workshop: Seismic, Well Logs, and Geological Models is a practical, hands-on course designed to break down the silos between different geoscience disciplines. The fundamental goal of this workshop is to teach participants how to reconcile the high vertical resolution of borehole data with the broad lateral coverage provided by seismic surveys. By synthesizing these disparate datasets, interpreters can construct a single, consistent subsurface model that honors all available physical and geological constraints.

The coverage of this course spans the entire interpretation workflow, starting from data conditioning and the creation of accurate seismic-to-well ties. Participants will learn how to use well-derived synthetic seismograms to "pick" seismic horizons with confidence and how to utilize seismic attributes to interpolate reservoir properties between well locations. The scope also includes the structural validation of interpretations through the construction of balanced cross-sections and the integration of geological concepts such as depositional environments and tectonic history.

Furthermore, the course addresses the transition from a static interpretation to a 3D geological model ready for volumetric analysis. Attendees will explore the use of geostatistical methods to distribute reservoir properties while staying grounded in the seismic and well-log reality. The workshop environment encourages participants to solve real-world discrepancies, such as velocity anomalies or mis-ties, which are common in complex exploration and development projects. By the end of the workshop, participants will have the skills to build a predictive and reliable subsurface framework.

COURSE OBJECTIVES:

After completion of this course, the participants will be able to:

  • Define the core principles of multidisciplinary subsurface integration.
  • Perform quality control on seismic volumes and digital well log suites.
  • Construct robust synthetic seismograms to bridge time and depth domains.
  • Identify and pick stratigraphic horizons and structural features on seismic data.
  • Utilize well-log motifs to interpret depositional facies and sequences.
  • Apply seismic attributes to identify lithological changes and fluid content.
  • Validate structural interpretations using cross-section balancing techniques.
  • Integrate core data and pressure measurements into the seismic framework.
  • Build accurate velocity models for time-to-depth conversion.
  • Distribute petrophysical properties within a 3D geological model.
  • Perform uncertainty analysis on integrated subsurface interpretations.
  • Resolve common data discrepancies like seismic-to-well mis-ties.
  • Evaluate the impact of integrated models on volumetric calculations.
  • Communicate integrated findings effectively to stakeholders and engineers.

TARGET AUDIENCE:

Geologists, Geophysicists, and Reservoir Engineers who need to enhance their skills in building consistent, multidisciplinary subsurface models.

TRAINING COURSE METHODOLOGY:

A highly interactive combination of lectures, discussion sessions, and case studies will be employed to maximise the transfer of information, knowledge, and experience. The course will be intensive, practical, and highly interactive. The sessions will start by raising the most relevant questions and motivating everybody to find the right answers. The attendants will also be encouraged to raise more of their questions and to share in developing the right answers using their analysis and experience. There will also be some indoor experiential activities to enhance the learning experience. Course material will be provided in PowerPoint, with necessary animations, learning videos, and general discussions.

The course participants shall be evaluated before, during, and at the end of the course.

COURSE CERTIFICATE:

National Consultant Centre for Training LLC (NCC) will issue an Attendance Certificate to all participants completing a minimum of 80% of the total attendance time requirement.
