Digital Tools and Data Analytics for Energy Efficiency in Oil and Gas

13 – 17 Apr. 2026, Abu Dhabi07 – 11 Sep. 2026, Abu Dhabi

COURSE OVERVIEW:

The meaning of digital tools and data analytics in the oil and gas sector refers to the application of advanced software, Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) sensors, and cloud computing to monitor and optimize energy consumption across upstream, midstream, and downstream operations. This course focuses on the transition from manual, reactive energy monitoring to automated, real-time intelligence that identifies inefficiencies in energy-intensive processes such as thermal cracking, gas compression, and water injection. By leveraging the power of "Big Data," operators can bridge the gap between theoretical process design and actual operational performance to drive significant fuel and power savings.

The scope of this training encompasses the integration of digital twins, edge computing, and predictive modeling within the specific constraints of hazardous oil and gas environments. It examines how high-frequency data from SCADA systems can be transformed into actionable insights through advanced visualization and machine learning algorithms. Participants will explore the technicalities of "Smart Fields" and "Digital Refineries," where energy performance is treated as a core operational metric alongside production volume and safety. The course provides a comprehensive framework for deploying digital energy management systems (DEMS) that comply with ISO 50001 standards.

Coverage includes the analysis of "Energy Dashboards" for real-time decision support, the use of drones and robotic inspection for thermal leak detection, and the application of blockchain for transparent carbon accounting. The course addresses the critical challenges of data cybersecurity in critical infrastructure and the cultural shift required to move toward data-driven energy management. Attendees will gain practical expertise in selecting and implementing the right digital stack to reduce the "Green Premium" of oil and gas production while enhancing the overall reliability and sustainability of their energy assets.

COURSE OBJECTIVES:

After completion of this course, the participants will be able to:

  1. Identify the high-impact digital use cases for energy reduction in oil and gas operations.
  2. Integrate IIoT sensors with legacy SCADA systems for enhanced energy data granularity.
  3. Develop "Digital Twins" of energy-intensive assets like gas turbines and distillation columns.
  4. Utilize predictive analytics to optimize the firing of industrial heaters and furnaces.
  5. Implement edge computing solutions for real-time energy optimization at the wellhead.
  6. Design energy performance dashboards that provide "Single Source of Truth" data.
  7. Apply machine learning for anomaly detection in energy consumption patterns.
  8. Evaluate the cybersecurity risks associated with cloud-based energy management tools.
  9. Optimize the energy intensity of artificial lift systems through automated data feedback.
  10. Use advanced data visualization to communicate energy KPIs to executive leadership.
  11. Navigate the requirements for digitalizing M&V (Measurement and Verification) processes.
  12. Formulate a digital transformation roadmap for corporate energy and carbon management.

TARGET AUDIENCE:

This course is designed for Petroleum Engineers, Process Engineers, Digital Transformation Managers, Energy Managers, Data Scientists in the Energy Sector, and Operations Leaders within the Oil and Gas industry.

TRAINING COURSE METHODOLOGY:

A highly interactive combination of lectures, discussion sessions, and case studies will be employed to maximize the transfer of information, knowledge, and experience. The course will be intensive, practical, and highly interactive. The sessions will start by raising the most relevant questions and motivating everybody to find the right answers. The attendants will also be encouraged to raise more of their questions and to share in developing the right answers using their analysis and experience. There will also be some indoor experiential activities to enhance the learning experience. Course material will be provided in PowerPoint, with necessary animations, learning videos, and general discussions.

The course participants shall be evaluated before, during, and at the end of the course.

COURSE CERTIFICATE:

National Consultant Centre for Training LLC (NCC) will issue an Attendance Certificate to all participants completing a minimum of 80% of the total attendance time requirement.
