Corporate Decarbonization: Net-Zero Strategy and Science-Based Targets

30 Mar. – 03 Apr. 2026, Dubai24 – 28 Aug. 2026, Abu Dhabi

COURSE OVERVIEW:

The meaning of corporate decarbonization refers to the strategic and technical process by which an organization reduces its greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions to align with global climate goals. This course focuses on the transition from vague sustainability promises to rigorous, data-driven "Net-Zero" pathways that are validated by science. By understanding the complexities of carbon accounting and emission abatement, leaders can transform climate risk into a competitive advantage while ensuring their business remains resilient in a low-carbon economy.

The scope of this training covers the entire decarbonization journey, from establishing a comprehensive baseline of Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions to the implementation of "Science-Based Targets" (SBTi). It examines the technical levers of decarbonization, including energy efficiency, electrification of transport, renewable energy procurement, and the strategic use of carbon removals. The course provides a deep dive into the integration of climate performance into corporate governance, financial reporting, and the broader supply chain management system.

Coverage includes the analysis of the Greenhouse Gas Protocol, the TCFD (Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures) framework, and the evolving landscape of carbon markets. The course addresses the critical role of stakeholder engagement—from investors demanding ESG transparency to employees driving cultural change. Participants will gain practical expertise in developing "Transition Plans" that balance technical feasibility with financial viability, providing a clear roadmap for achieving absolute emission reductions and navigating the path to true Net-Zero.

COURSE OBJECTIVES:

After completion of this course, the participants will be able to:

  1. Interpret the technical requirements of the Science-Based Targets initiative (SBTi).
  2. Categorize and quantify Scope 1, Scope 2, and Scope 3 emissions using the GHG Protocol.
  3. Conduct a "Climate Risk Assessment" based on TCFD recommendations.
  4. Develop an Internal Carbon Pricing (ICP) mechanism to drive investment decisions.
  5. Identify high-impact emission reduction levers across the value chain.
  6. Evaluate the quality and permanence of carbon offsets and removal credits.
  7. Design a renewable energy procurement strategy (PPAs, RECs, and On-site).
  8. Implement "Circular Economy" principles to reduce embodied carbon in products.
  9. Integrate decarbonization KPIs into executive compensation and management systems.
  10. Navigate the regulatory requirements for mandatory climate disclosures (CSRD, SEC).
  11. Communicate progress transparently to investors, customers, and employees.
  12. Formulate a comprehensive Corporate Net-Zero Transition Plan.

TARGET AUDIENCE:

This course is designed for Sustainability Directors, CFOs, ESG Managers, Operations Leaders, Supply Chain Professionals, and Corporate Strategists responsible for leading climate action and carbon management within their organizations.

TRAINING COURSE METHODOLOGY:

A highly interactive combination of lectures, discussion sessions, and case studies will be employed to maximize the transfer of information, knowledge, and experience. The course will be intensive, practical, and highly interactive. The sessions will start by raising the most relevant questions and motivating everybody to find the right answers. The attendants will also be encouraged to raise more of their questions and to share in developing the right answers using their analysis and experience. There will also be some indoor experiential activities to enhance the learning experience. Course material will be provided in PowerPoint, with necessary animations, learning videos, and general discussions.

The course participants shall be evaluated before, during, and at the end of the course.

COURSE CERTIFICATE:

National Consultant Centre for Training LLC (NCC) will issue an Attendance Certificate to all participants completing a minimum of 80% of the total attendance time requirement.
