Practical Electrical Wiring Standards and Regulations

04 – 08 May 2026, Dubai31 Aug. – 04 Sep. 2026, Abu Dhabi

COURSE OVERVIEW:

The integrity of any electrical installation depends fundamentally on the strict application of localized and international wiring standards. This course provides a technical exploration of the regulatory frameworks governing low-voltage installations, focusing on the prevention of thermal hazards and electric shock through correct design. Participants will explore the mechanics of "Safe Wiring," learning how to interpret complex regulatory codes to ensure that every circuit remains compliant from the point of supply to the final outlet.

The scope of this training addresses the full spectrum of wiring architectures, including cable selection, containment systems, and the integration of protective devices. It covers the technical nuances of "Circuit Sizing," focusing on the calculation of voltage drop and the assessment of environmental factors that dictate cable derating. The curriculum provides a detailed focus on the latest revisions of the IET Wiring Regulations (BS 7671) and similar international standards, ensuring that participants can design and inspect systems that meet modern safety benchmarks.

Coverage includes the implementation of rigorous testing and verification procedures required before a system is energized. Attendees will learn to utilize advanced testing instruments to verify continuity, insulation resistance, and earth fault loop impedance. By combining theoretical regulatory knowledge with practical installation workflows, the course equips professionals with the expertise required to manage wiring projects that are efficient, durable, and fully compliant with global safety mandates.

COURSE OBJECTIVES:

After completion of this course, the participants will be able to:

  • Define the fundamental principles of electrical safety as outlined in BS 7671 and IEC standards.
  • Identify the legal requirements and responsibilities of electrical installers and designers.
  • Select appropriate cable types based on load requirements and environmental conditions.
  • Calculate "Voltage Drop" and "Current Carrying Capacity" for complex circuits.
  • Apply "Derating Factors" for cable grouping, ambient temperature, and thermal insulation.
  • Design "Containment Systems" including conduit, trunking, and cable tray layouts.
  • Explain the "Earthing and Bonding" requirements for different system types (TT, TN-S, TN-C-S).
  • Implement "Residual Current Device" (RCD) protection strategies for various load types.
  • Conduct "Initial Verification" and "Periodic Inspection" of electrical installations.
  • Utilize "Insulation Resistance Testers" and "Loop Impedance Meters" correctly.
  • Interpret "Selection and Erection" rules for switchgear and distribution boards.
  • Document "Electrical Installation Certificates" (EIC) and "Minor Works Reports."

TARGET AUDIENCE:

This course is intended for Electrical Engineers, Site Supervisors, Electrical Inspectors, Facilities Managers, and Senior Electricians responsible for installation compliance.

TRAINING COURSE METHODOLOGY:

A highly interactive combination of lectures, discussion sessions, and case studies will be employed to maximize the transfer of information, knowledge, and experience. The course will be intensive, practical, and highly interactive. The sessions will start by raising the most relevant questions and motivating everybody to find the right answers. The attendants will also be encouraged to raise more of their questions and to share in developing the right answers using their analysis and experience. There will also be some indoor experiential activities to enhance the learning experience. Course material will be provided in PowerPoint, with necessary animations, learning videos, and general discussions.

The course participants shall be evaluated before, during, and at the end of the course.

COURSE CERTIFICATE:

National Consultant Centre for Training LLC (NCC) will issue an Attendance Certificate to all participants completing a minimum of 80% of the total attendance time requirement.
