Control Panel Design, Construction, and Maintenance

12 – 16 Jan. 2026, Abu Dhabi02 – 06 Nov. 2026, Abu Dhabi

COURSE OVERVIEW:

The control panel is the physical interface where electrical power meets industrial intelligence, requiring a unique blend of structural and electrical engineering. This course provides a comprehensive examination of the design and construction of industrial control panels, focusing on safety, ergonomics, and technical performance. Participants will explore the standards that govern enclosure selection and component layout, ensuring that the final assembly is capable of protecting sensitive electronics from harsh industrial environments.

The scope of this training addresses the entire lifecycle of a control panel, from the initial drafting of electrical schematics to the physical assembly and wiring. It covers the technical nuances of thermal management, electromagnetic compatibility, and internal power distribution. The curriculum focuses on the integration of various components, including Programmable Logic Controllers, motor starters, and human-machine interfaces, providing a framework for creating organized and maintainable electrical enclosures.

Coverage includes rigorous maintenance and troubleshooting protocols designed to extend the life of panel-mounted assets. Attendees will learn to conduct thermal audits and insulation tests to identify early signs of component degradation or loose connections. By combining theoretical design principles with practical construction techniques, the course ensures that technical personnel can deliver control panels that are compliant with international standards while providing high reliability for process operations.

COURSE OBJECTIVES:

After completion of this course, the participants will be able to:

  • Design control panel layouts according to international safety standards.
  • Select appropriate enclosures based on Ingress Protection and NEMA ratings.
  • Calculate thermal loads and design effective cooling and ventilation systems.
  • Implement proper grounding and bonding techniques for noise reduction.
  • Select and size circuit breakers, fuses, and terminal blocks correctly.
  • Create professional electrical schematics and panel assembly drawings.
  • Apply effective cable management and labeling for ease of maintenance.
  • Execute professional wiring techniques for power and signal circuits.
  • Conduct point-to-point wiring verification and pre-energization tests.
  • Troubleshoot electrical faults within the control panel environment.
  • Perform thermal imaging and preventive maintenance on panel components.
  • Ensure compliance with electromagnetic compatibility requirements.

TARGET AUDIENCE:

This course is intended for Electrical Design Engineers, Panel Builders, Maintenance Technicians, and Automation Specialists responsible for industrial control systems.

TRAINING COURSE METHODOLOGY:

A highly interactive combination of lectures, discussion sessions, and case studies will be employed to maximize the transfer of information, knowledge, and experience. The course will be intensive, practical, and highly interactive. The sessions will start by raising the most relevant questions and motivating everybody to find the right answers. The attendants will also be encouraged to raise more of their questions and to share in developing the right answers using their analysis and experience. There will also be some indoor experiential activities to enhance the learning experience. Course material will be provided in PowerPoint, with necessary animations, learning videos, and general discussions.

The course participants shall be evaluated before, during, and at the end of the course.

COURSE CERTIFICATE:

National Consultant Centre for Training LLC (NCC) will issue an Attendance Certificate to all participants completing a minimum of 80% of the total attendance time requirement.
