Commissioning, Inspecting, Testing, and Maintenance for LV, MV, and HV Equipment

08 – 12 June 2026, Dubai28 Sep. – 02 Oct. 2026, Abu Dhabi

COURSE OVERVIEW:

The lifecycle management of electrical infrastructure across various voltage levels is a critical factor in ensuring industrial continuity and grid stability. This course provides an integrated technical framework for the commissioning, inspection, and upkeep of Low Voltage (LV), Medium Voltage (MV), and High Voltage (HV) assets. Participants will explore the differentiated engineering requirements for each voltage class, focusing on the specific dielectric, thermal, and mechanical challenges that arise as system voltages increase from 400V to 132kV and beyond.

The scope of this training addresses the rigorous transition from installation to energization, emphasizing the importance of independent verification through specialized testing protocols. It covers a broad spectrum of equipment, including distribution boards, metal-clad switchgear, and high-voltage substation components. The curriculum provides a deep dive into advanced diagnostic methodologies such as Very Low Frequency (VLF) cable testing and high-voltage withstand evaluation, enabling technical personnel to validate the integrity of insulation systems before they are subjected to operational stresses.

Coverage includes the development of comprehensive maintenance strategies that balance time-based inspections with sophisticated condition-based monitoring. Attendees will learn to manage the risks associated with aging infrastructure, focusing on the identification of partial discharge, contact degradation, and fluid insulation acidity. By mastering the coordination of multi-voltage maintenance shutdowns, the course equips professionals with the expertise required to maintain a safe, reliable, and efficient electrical network that complies with international utility and safety standards.

COURSE OBJECTIVES:

After completion of this course, the participants will be able to:

  • Differentiate between the commissioning requirements for LV, MV, and HV systems.
  • Execute professional insulation resistance and polarization index tests.
  • Perform Very Low Frequency (VLF) tan-delta testing on medium voltage cables.
  • Conduct contact resistance and timing measurements for various circuit breakers.
  • Evaluate the dielectric strength and moisture content of insulating oils.
  • Identify the early signatures of partial discharge in HV switchgear and bushings.
  • Calibrate and verify the operation of LV protection units and MV/HV relays.
  • Implement rigorous safety protocols for high-voltage substation inspections.
  • Analyze the results of thermal imaging surveys across multi-voltage terminals.
  • Manage the commissioning documentation and final energization checklists.
  • Develop a proactive maintenance schedule for transformers and earth grids.
  • Conduct root cause analysis for failures occurring during the commissioning phase.

TARGET AUDIENCE:

This course is intended for Electrical Commissioning Engineers, Substation Managers, Field Service Technicians, and Safety Inspectors responsible for multi-voltage electrical networks.

TRAINING COURSE METHODOLOGY:

A highly interactive combination of lectures, discussion sessions, and case studies will be employed to maximize the transfer of information, knowledge, and experience. The course will be intensive, practical, and highly interactive. The sessions will start by raising the most relevant questions and motivating everybody to find the right answers. The attendants will also be encouraged to raise more of their questions and to share in developing the right answers using their analysis and experience. There will also be some indoor experiential activities to enhance the learning experience. Course material will be provided in PowerPoint, with necessary animations, learning videos, and general discussions.

The course participants shall be evaluated before, during, and at the end of the course.

COURSE CERTIFICATE:

National Consultant Centre for Training LLC (NCC) will issue an Attendance Certificate to all participants completing a minimum of 80% of the total attendance time requirement.
