Saturation-Height Modelling for Reservoir Description

20 – 24 Apr. 2026, Abu Dhabi17 – 21 Aug. 2026, Dubai

COURSE OVERVIEW:

The course will help the participants learn the implementation of capillary pressure measurements in saturation-height studies and reservoir modelling. It will also cover best practice guidelines to create meaningful saturation-height functions from capillary pressure measurements, with a strong focus on data quality, integration with log data, and implementation within static reservoir models.

COURSE OBJECTIVES:

After completion of this course, the participants will be able to:

  • Explain the fundamental concepts of capillary pressure and its relationship with reservoir rock and fluid properties.
  • Describe different capillary pressure measurement techniques, their limitations, and appropriate application ranges.
  • Select suitable core samples and experimental programs for saturation-height and capillary pressure studies.
  • Interpret capillary pressure data and apply quality control procedures to ensure reliable inputs for modelling.
  • Build practical saturation-height functions from core and special core analysis (SCAL) data.
  • Reconcile saturation-height models with log-derived water saturation and dynamic performance information.
  • Implement saturation-height functions within reservoir modelling software and validate their impact on in-place volumes and flow behaviour.
  • Apply best practice guidelines to document, communicate, and maintain saturation-height models for field development and reservoir management decisions.
  •

    TARGET AUDIENCE:

    • Geologists
    • Geophysicists
    • Reservoir Engineers
    • Production Engineers
    • Petrophysicists and SCAL Specialists
    • Reservoir Modelling and Simulation Engineers

    TRAINING COURSE METHODOLOGY:

A highly interactive combination of lectures and discussion sessions, as well as case studies, will be managed to maximize the amount and quality of information, knowledge, and experience transfer. The course will be intensive, practical, and highly interactive. The sessions will start by raising the most relevant questions and motivating everybody to find the right answers. The attendants will also be encouraged to raise more of their questions and to share in developing the right answers using their analysis and experience. There will also be some indoor experiential activities to enhance learning. Course material will be provided in PowerPoint, with necessary animations, learning videos, and general discussions.

The course participants shall be evaluated before, during, and at the end of the course.

    COURSE CERTIFICATE:

National Consultant Centre for Training LLC (NCC) will issue an Attendance Certificate to all participants completing a minimum of 80% of the total attendance time requirement.
