Integrated 3D Reservoir Modeling

09 – 13 Feb. 2026, Dubai02 – 06 Nov. 2026, Abu Dhabi

COURSE OVERVIEW:

This course provides a comprehensive understanding of the concepts, workflows, and practical applications involved in building fully integrated 3D reservoir models. These models form the foundation for reservoir characterization, reserves estimation, development planning, and dynamic simulation. Participants will learn how geological, petrophysical, seismic, and engineering data are merged to build robust static models that accurately represent subsurface heterogeneity and reservoir architecture.

The course covers the full 3D modeling workflow, including structural framework building, stratigraphic layering, facies modeling, property population, uncertainty analysis, and preparation of simulation-ready grids. Emphasis is placed on integrating multidisciplinary datasets, applying geostatistical techniques, honoring geological concepts, and maintaining model consistency across scales. By the end of the course, participants will be able to construct, evaluate, and quality check integrated reservoir models suitable for production forecasting and field development decision making.

COURSE OBJECTIVES:

After completion of the course, the participants will be able to:

  • Understand the purpose and workflow of integrated 3D reservoir modeling.
  • Interpret geological, petrophysical, and seismic inputs used for model building.
  • Construct structural frameworks including horizons, faults, and zones.
  • Build stratigraphic layering models that honor depositional environments.
  • Apply facies modeling techniques for clastic and carbonate reservoirs.
  • Populate reservoir properties such as porosity and permeability using geostatistical methods.
  • Integrate well logs, core data, seismic attributes, and geological concepts.
  • Construct simulation-ready grids and understand grid design principles.
  • Perform model upscaling and ensure property consistency.
  • Identify and quantify uncertainties in reservoir models.
  • Validate and quality check 3D reservoir models for technical integrity.
  • Prepare static models for dynamic simulation and history matching.
  • Communicate modeling results for reservoir management and development planning.

TARGET AUDIENCE:

  • Reservoir engineers
  • Geoscientists and geologists
  • Petrophysicists involved in reservoir characterization
  • Reservoir modelers and simulation engineers
  • Field development planners
  • Technical staff working in subsurface evaluation teams
  • Professionals preparing for advanced reservoir modeling roles

TRAINING COURSE METHODOLOGY:

A highly interactive combination of lectures, discussion sessions, and case studies will be employed to maximise the transfer of information, knowledge, and experience. The course will be intensive, practical, and highly interactive. The sessions will start by raising the most relevant questions and motivating everybody to find the right answers. The attendants will also be encouraged to raise more of their questions and to share in developing the right answers using their analysis and experience. There will also be some indoor experiential activities to enhance the learning experience. Course material will be provided in PowerPoint, with necessary animations, learning videos, and general discussions.

The course participants shall be evaluated before, during, and at the end of the course.

COURSE CERTIFICATE:

National Consultant Centre for Training LLC (NCC) will issue an Attendance Certificate to all participants completing a minimum of 80 percent of the total attendance time requirement.
