Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) and Sustainability with Zero Emission Technology

11 – 15 May 2026, Dubai10 – 14 Aug. 2026, Abu Dhabi
COURSE OVERVIEW:

Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) continues to play a vital role in maximizing hydrocarbon recovery and extending the life of mature reservoirs. As the global energy sector transitions toward sustainability, the integration of low-carbon and zero-emission technologies into EOR operations has become increasingly essential.

This course provides an in-depth understanding of both traditional and advanced EOR techniques while emphasizing modern sustainability practices, carbon management strategies, and technologies that minimize or eliminate emissions during EOR implementation.

Participants will explore CO₂ capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS), renewable-powered EOR operations, energy optimization frameworks, life cycle emissions evaluation, and environmentally responsible field development workflows. Real-world case studies highlight how operators can enhance production, reduce carbon intensity, and align EOR projects with global decarbonization goals.

COURSE OBJECTIVES:

After completion of the course, the participants will be able to:

  • Understand the principles and mechanisms of enhanced oil recovery.
  • Describe primary, secondary, and tertiary recovery methods and limitations.
  • Evaluate screening criteria for selecting appropriate EOR techniques.
  • Recognize sustainability challenges associated with traditional EOR operations.
  • Understand the fundamentals of zero-emission and low-carbon technologies.
  • Explain how CO₂ capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS) integrates with EOR.
  • Analyse emission sources in EOR operations and methods to reduce carbon intensity.
  • Evaluate renewable and hybrid energy systems to support EOR activities.
  • Interpret fluid–rock interactions and displacement mechanisms in EOR processes.
  • Apply reservoir simulation concepts to model sustainable EOR strategies.
  • Conduct environmental impact assessments and life cycle carbon evaluations.
  • Identify risks, operational challenges, and mitigation measures for sustainable EOR deployment.
  • Examine global field applications of low-carbon EOR projects and zero-emission pilots.
  • Develop integrated sustainability plans for EOR field development.

TARGET AUDIENCE:

  • Reservoir engineers
  • Petroleum and production engineers
  • EOR project specialists
  • Sustainability and energy transition professionals
  • Field development planners
  • Environmental engineers and HSE specialists
  • Technical managers and decision-makers

TRAINING COURSE METHODOLOGY:

A highly interactive combination of lectures, discussion sessions, and case studies will be employed to maximise the transfer of information, knowledge, and experience. The course will be intensive, practical, and highly interactive. The sessions will start by raising the most relevant questions and motivating everybody to find the right answers. The attendants will also be encouraged to raise more of their questions and to share in developing the right answers using their analysis and experience. There will also be some indoor experiential activities to enhance the learning experience. Course material will be provided in PowerPoint, with necessary animations, learning videos, and general discussions.

The course participants shall be evaluated before, during, and at the end of the course.

COURSE CERTIFICATE:

National Consultant Centre for Training LLC (NCC) will issue an Attendance Certificate to all participants completing a minimum of 80% of the total attendance time requirement.
