COURSE OVERVIEW
This course provides participants with a comprehensive understanding of the pre-award phase of drilling services contracts, focusing on contract preparation, tendering procedures, and evaluation processes specific to drilling operations. Participants will gain insight into different types of drilling rig contracts, key contracting strategies, and pricing mechanisms commonly used in the oil and gas industry.
The program emphasizes the development of practical skills for drafting effective scopes of work, establishing clear terms and conditions, and implementing efficient sourcing strategies. Through interactive discussions and exercises, participants will learn how to analyze bids, conduct technical and commercial evaluations, and apply objective criteria to select the most suitable contractors.
By the end of this course, participants will have the knowledge and confidence to manage all critical aspects of the contract preparation and tendering process for drilling services, ensuring transparency, fairness, and alignment with organizational and industry best practices.
COURSE OBJECTIVES
After completion of the course, the participants will be able to:
- Outline the basic principles and elements of contracting for drilling services.
- Identify the major steps involved in contract preparation, including developing an effective scope of work (SOW) and sourcing strategy.
- Describe the different types of drilling rig contracts and the various contracting and pricing strategies (e.g., day rate, footage, turnkey).
- Understand pre-qualification procedures and selection criteria for potential drilling contractors.
- Apply tendering procedures, from bid invitation to submission review and evaluation.
- Conduct technical and commercial evaluations using structured methodologies and objective scoring criteria.

TRAINING COURSE METHODOLOGY
A highly interactive combination of lectures and discussion sessions, as well as case studies, will be managed to maximize the amount and quality of information, knowledge, and experience transfer. The course will be intensive, practical, and highly interactive. The sessions will start by raising the most relevant questions and motivating everybody to find the right answers. The attendants will also be encouraged to raise more of their questions and to share in developing the right answers using their analysis and experience. There will also be some indoor experiential activities to enhance learning. Course material will be provided in PowerPoint, with necessary animations, learning videos, and general discussions.
The course participants shall be evaluated before, during, and at the end of the course.
COURSE CERTIFICATE:
National Consultant Centre for Training LLC (NCC) will issue an Attendance Certificate to all participants completing a minimum of 80% of the total attendance time requirement.
