Basic Reservoir Management
| 19 – 23 Jan. 2026, Abu Dhabi | 14 – 18 Dec. 2026, Abu Dhabi |
COURSE OVERVIEW:
This course provides a practical introduction to reservoir management and how it is used to increase the value of hydrocarbon assets throughout their life cycle. It explains how integrated teams plan field developments, monitor reservoir performance, and make decisions that balance recovery, production, and economic returns.
Participants are introduced to the concepts, workflows, and technology involved in reservoir characterization, numerical simulation, and surveillance. The course focuses on how geoscience and engineering data are combined to understand the subsurface, how development and infill strategies are evaluated, and how surveillance and control are used to keep the reservoir delivering to plan. Realistic examples are used to show how good reservoir management practices add economic value and reduce uncertainty and risk.
COURSE OBJECTIVES:
After completion of this course, the participants will be able to:
- Explain the purpose of reservoir management and its role in increasing the value of hydrocarbon assets.
- Describe the main steps in the reservoir management process from field appraisal through to late life.
- Identify the key data and disciplines involved in understanding the reservoir and integrating subsurface and surface information.
- Outline the main technologies used in reservoir characterization, simulation, and surveillance.
- Understand how field development plans are prepared and how production forecasts are generated and updated.
- Describe how reservoir performance is monitored and how deviations from plan are diagnosed.
- Recognize how reservoir management decisions add economic value through improved recovery and optimized investment.
- Know the importance of multidisciplinary teamwork in successful reservoir management.
TARGET AUDIENCE:
- Production engineers
- Reservoir engineers
TRAINING COURSE METHODOLOGY:
A highly interactive combination of lectures and discussion sessions, as well as case studies, will be managed to maximize the amount and quality of information, knowledge, and experience transfer. The course will be intensive, practical, and highly interactive. The sessions will start by raising the most relevant questions and motivating everybody to find the right answers. The attendants will also be encouraged to raise more of their questions and to share in developing the right answers using their analysis and experience. There will also be some indoor experiential activities to enhance learning. Course material will be provided in PowerPoint, with necessary animations, learning videos, and general discussions.
The course participants shall be evaluated before, during, and at the end of the course.
COURSE CERTIFICATE:
National Consultant Centre for Training LLC (NCC) will issue an Attendance Certificate to all participants completing a minimum of 80% of the total attendance time requirement.
