Applied Reservoir Engineering and Management

15 – 19 June 2026, Abu Dhabi02 – 06 Nov. 2026, Cairo

COURSE OVERVIEW:

Applied reservoir engineering and management integrate technical reservoir analysis with strategic decision-making to maximize hydrocarbon recovery, optimize production, and ensure long-term asset sustainability. This advanced course provides participants with both the engineering foundation and the management techniques required to monitor, forecast, and optimize reservoir performance across its entire life cycle.

Participants will learn how to combine reservoir engineering tools material balance, pressure transient analysis, production data analysis, fluid flow modelling, and EOR screening with reservoir management principles such as surveillance planning, uncertainty mitigation, development optimization, risk-based decision-making, and multi-disciplinary integration. The course emphasizes practical workflows used in onshore, offshore, conventional, unconventional, carbonate, and fractured reservoirs. Real field examples demonstrate how strong engineering foundations, continuous surveillance, and data-driven decision-making contribute to improved recovery and enhanced field value.

COURSE OBJECTIVES:

After completion of the course, the participants will be able to:

  • Understand reservoir engineering fundamentals and their role in effective reservoir management.
  • Evaluate reservoir drive mechanisms and predict reservoir performance under varying conditions.
  • Use material-balance techniques to estimate hydrocarbons in place and interpret drive mechanisms.
  • Conduct pressure transient and well-test analysis to diagnose reservoir and wellbore conditions.
  • Perform production data analysis including decline-curve modelling and trend diagnostics.
  • Evaluate well productivity using inflow performance relationships and nodal analysis.
  • Integrate PVT, SCAL, geological, and surveillance data into engineering workflows.
  • Develop reservoir surveillance plans to track field behavior effectively.
  • Identify performance deviations and propose corrective engineering measures.
  • Screen and evaluate IOR and EOR technologies for reservoir improvement.
  • Assess economic, operational, and technical risks in reservoir-management decisions.
  • Develop reservoir-development strategies, infill drilling plans, and optimization scenarios.
  • Apply uncertainty analysis and scenario modelling to support decision-making.
  • Prepare integrated reservoir-management reports and communicate engineering findings effectively.

TARGET AUDIENCE:

  • Reservoir Engineers
  • Petroleum Engineers
  • Production and Operations Engineers
  • Reservoir Modelling and Simulation Teams
  • Geoscientists involved in reservoir development
  • Field Development and Asset Management Personnel
  • Professionals seeking practical and managerial reservoir engineering expertise

TRAINING COURSE METHODOLOGY

A highly interactive combination of lectures, discussion sessions, and case studies will be employed to maximise the transfer of information, knowledge, and experience. The course will be intensive, practical, and highly interactive. The sessions will start by raising the most relevant questions and motivating everybody to find the right answers. The attendants will also be encouraged to raise more of their questions and to share in developing the right answers using their analysis and experience. There will also be some indoor experiential activities to enhance the learning experience. Course material will be provided in PowerPoint, with necessary animations, learning videos, and general discussions.

The course participants shall be evaluated before, during, and at the end of the course.

COURSE CERTIFICATE

National Consultant Centre for Training LLC (NCC) will issue an Attendance Certificate to all participants completing a minimum of 80% of the total attendance time requirement.
