Advanced Drilling Rig Inspection and Maintenance
| 30 Mar. – 03 Apr. 2026, Dubai | 24 – 28 Aug. 2026, Abu Dhabi |
COURSE OVERVIEW:
Advanced drilling rig inspection and maintenance are essential for ensuring operational safety, equipment reliability, regulatory compliance, and optimal drilling performance. This course provides a deep technical understanding of inspection standards, structural assessments, mechanical maintenance strategies, and performance integrity evaluations across all critical rig systems—hoisting, rotating, pressure control, circulating, power generation, well control, tubular handling, and electrical/instrumentation systems.
Participants will learn to apply advanced inspection methods, evaluate equipment condition using industry standards (API, ISO), detect early signs of mechanical degradation, and manage preventive and predictive maintenance workflows. The course also addresses failure analysis, digital maintenance systems (CMMS), risk-based inspection planning, and reliability-centered maintenance (RCM). Real-world case studies from land and offshore rigs reinforce practical troubleshooting, compliance auditing, and field execution competencies.
COURSE OBJECTIVES:
After completion of the course, the participants will be able to:
- Understand advanced rig inspection methodologies and international compliance standards.
- Perform detailed inspections on hoisting, rotating, and well control systems.
- Evaluate structural integrity of derricks, masts, substructures, and load-bearing components.
- Identify early signs of equipment wear, fatigue, corrosion, and misalignment.
- Inspect and assess BOP systems, choke manifolds, and pressure control equipment.
- Analyze rig hydraulic, pneumatic, and circulating systems for performance deviations.
- Execute preventive, corrective, and predictive maintenance planning.
- Apply condition monitoring tools (vibration analysis, thermography, lubrication analysis).
- Conduct advanced inspections on electrical, power generation, and instrumentation systems.
- Troubleshoot mechanical failures and recommend engineering corrective actions.
- Review inspection documentation and build compliant maintenance records.
- Implement risk-based inspection programs and reliability-centered maintenance (RCM).
- Evaluate rig readiness, equipment certification requirements, and audit preparation.
- Integrate digital rig maintenance tools (CMMS, integrity dashboards, inspection apps).
TARGET AUDIENCE:
- Rig Maintenance Engineers and Supervisors
- Drilling Engineers and Rig Managers
- Mechanical, Electrical, and Instrumentation Engineers
- Toolpushers and Assistant Drillers
- Wellsite Supervisors and Company Representatives
- HSE Officers involved in equipment safety inspections
- Professionals enhancing rig integrity and maintenance capability
TRAINING COURSE METHODOLOGY
A highly interactive combination of lectures, discussion sessions, and case studies will be employed to maximise the transfer of information, knowledge, and experience. The course will be intensive, practical, and highly interactive. The sessions will start by raising the most relevant questions and motivating everybody to find the right answers. The attendants will also be encouraged to raise more of their questions and to share in developing the right answers using their analysis and experience. There will also be some indoor experiential activities to enhance the learning experience. Course material will be provided in PowerPoint, with necessary animations, learning videos, and general discussions.
The course participants shall be evaluated before, during, and at the end of the course.
COURSE CERTIFICATE
National Consultant Centre for Training LLC (NCC) will issue an Attendance Certificate to all participants completing a minimum of 80% of the total attendance time requirement.
