Advanced Drilling Practice
| 23 – 27 Mar. 2026, Abu Dhabi | 17 – 21 Aug. 2026, Abu Dhabi |
COURSE OVERVIEW:
Advanced drilling practice focuses on the practical, operational, and engineering aspects required to successfully execute complex drilling programs in modern oil and gas environments. This course is designed to bridge the gap between theoretical drilling engineering and real-world field implementation, emphasizing operational excellence, advanced rig practices, drilling optimization, hazard prevention, and high-performance well construction.
Participants will gain deep exposure to drilling operational workflows, real-time surveillance, BHA and bit performance tuning, hole-cleaning strategies, stuck-pipe prevention, MPD interfaces, wellbore stability maintenance, and performance-driven drilling (PDD). The course also integrates lessons learned from global complex wells, including ERD, HPHT, horizontal, multilateral, and depleted-zone drilling. By mastering advanced practical techniques, participants will be able to significantly reduce NPT, improve safety, optimize ROP, and enhance overall drilling performance.
COURSE OBJECTIVES:
After completion of the course, the participants will be able to:
- Understand advanced drilling operational practices and workflow integration.
- Apply practical methods for improving drilling efficiency and minimizing NPT.
- Evaluate BHA and drill bit performance and make informed optimization decisions.
- Maintain hole stability through optimized mud weight, hydraulics, and geomechanics.
- Implement high-performance drilling practices for improved ROP and tool reliability.
- Identify early indicators of drilling dysfunctions (vibration, stick-slip, whirl).
- Manage hole-cleaning challenges using real-time and pre-job modelling.
- Prevent stuck pipe through correct operational procedures and risk assessment.
- Perform advanced tripping and pipe-handling operations safely and efficiently.
- Integrate MPD techniques into drilling operations where applicable.
- Address operational complexities in HPHT, ERD, and depleted formations.
- Use real-time data and drilling analytics to improve operational decision-making.
- Coordinate effectively with rig-site personnel for seamless operational execution.
- Conduct post-well performance analysis to drive continuous improvement.
TARGET AUDIENCE:
- Drilling Engineers
- Wellsite Supervisors
- Directional Drillers
- Drilling Optimization Specialists
- Rig Managers and Tool pushers
- Real-Time Operations Center (RTOC) Staff
- Professionals seeking to enhance advanced drilling operational competence
TRAINING COURSE METHODOLOGY
A highly interactive combination of lectures, discussion sessions, and case studies will be employed to maximise the transfer of information, knowledge, and experience. The course will be intensive, practical, and highly interactive. The sessions will start by raising the most relevant questions and motivating everybody to find the right answers. The attendants will also be encouraged to raise more of their questions and to share in developing the right answers using their analysis and experience. There will also be some indoor experiential activities to enhance the learning experience. Course material will be provided in PowerPoint, with necessary animations, learning videos, and general discussions.
The course participants shall be evaluated before, during, and at the end of the course.
COURSE CERTIFICATE
National Consultant Centre for Training LLC (NCC) will issue an Attendance Certificate to all participants completing a minimum of 80% of the total attendance time requirement.
