Advanced Drilling Drafting and Well Program Documentation

02 – 06 Feb. 2026, Abu Dhabi03 – 07 Aug. 2026, Cairo

COURSE OVERVIEW:

Advanced Drilling Drafting and Well Program Documentation is a highly technical course focused on the precision required to visualize and document complex sub-surface construction projects. This course examines the integration of engineering data with drafting standards to produce comprehensive well designs, including casing programs, cement slurries, and trajectory plots. It provides a technical framework for transforming raw geological and engineering data into professional, standardized documents that ensure operational safety and regulatory compliance during the drilling phase.

The scope of this training involves the mastery of digital drafting tools and technical writing specific to the upstream oil and gas sector. Participants will explore the mechanics of "Wellbore Schematic" generation, the visualization of "Bottom Hole Assemblies" (BHA), and the creation of "Pressure Profile" charts. The program emphasizes the role of accurate documentation in mitigating drilling risks, such as lost circulation and wellbore instability, by providing clear, unambiguous instructions to the rig-site personnel and stakeholders.

Coverage includes the legal mandates for "Permit to Drill" submissions, the management of "Daily Drilling Reports" (DDR), and the technicalities of "As-Built" documentation post-well completion. The course addresses the nuances of "Wellhead and X-mas Tree" drafting, the documentation of "Barrier Envelopes," and the integration of "Geospatial Data" into well site maps. By focusing on both the graphical and textual elements of drilling engineering, this course equips professionals with the expertise needed to produce world-class well programs that bridge the gap between office design and field execution.

COURSE OBJECTIVES:

After completion of the course, the participants will be able to:

  • Explain the fundamental requirements of a comprehensive Well Program.

  • Produce high-precision "Wellbore Schematics" using industry-standard symbols.

  • Document "Casing and Cementing" programs with technical accuracy.

  • Visualize complex "Directional Drilling" trajectories in 2D and 3D.

  • Create detailed "Bottom Hole Assembly" (BHA) drafting and specifications.

  • Design "Wellhead and Blowout Preventer" (BOP) stack configurations.

  • Integrate "Pore Pressure" and "Fracture Gradient" data into drilling charts.

  • Manage the "Management of Change" (MOC) documentation for well plans.

  • Draft "Hydraulics and Bit" programs based on engineering calculations.

  • Utilize "Geospatial Information Systems" (GIS) for well site layout drafting.

  • Execute "Barrier Schematic" documentation for well integrity assurance.

  • Prepare "Regulatory Filing" documents for government drilling permits.

  • Lead the "Drilling Engineering" team in maintaining documentation standards.

TARGET AUDIENCE:

  • Drilling Engineers
  • Well Design Engineers
  • Directional Drillers and BHA Specialists
  • Wellsite Supervisors and Company Representatives
  • Geomechanics and Drilling Fluids Engineers
  • Drilling Optimization and Real-Time Operations Staff
  • Professionals upgrading skills in advanced drilling engineering

TRAINING COURSE METHODOLOGY

A highly interactive combination of lectures, discussion sessions, and case studies will be employed to maximise the transfer of information, knowledge, and experience. The course will be intensive, practical, and highly interactive. The sessions will start by raising the most relevant questions and motivating everybody to find the right answers. The attendants will also be encouraged to raise more of their questions and to share in developing the right answers using their analysis and experience. There will also be some indoor experiential activities to enhance the learning experience. Course material will be provided in PowerPoint, with necessary animations, learning videos, and general discussions.

The course participants shall be evaluated before, during, and at the end of the course.

COURSE CERTIFICATE

National Consultant Centre for Training LLC (NCC) will issue an Attendance Certificate to all participants completing a minimum of 80% of the total attendance time requirement.
