Integrity Management of Subsea Pipelines

02 – 06 Feb. 2026, Abu Dhabi26 – 30 Oct. 2026, Dubai

COURSE OVERVIEW:

Subsea pipeline integrity management encompasses the systematic processes required to ensure that offshore pipeline systems remain fit for purpose throughout their entire operational life cycle. This field integrates engineering design, environmental monitoring, and risk assessment to prevent catastrophic failures that could lead to environmental disasters or significant economic losses. It involves a deep understanding of the structural mechanics of pipelines submerged in high-pressure and corrosive marine environments, focusing on the preservation of the primary containment boundary.

The scope of this course covers the technical and operational frameworks necessary for managing the health of subsea assets from installation through decommissioning. Participants will explore the diverse range of threats facing underwater conduits, including internal and external corrosion, hydrodynamic loading, and accidental damage from maritime activities. The curriculum bridges the gap between theoretical degradation modeling and practical field applications, emphasizing the importance of proactive monitoring and the utilization of advanced inspection technologies to maintain asset reliability.

Detailed Coverage includes the application of international standards such as DNV-RP-F116 and API 1160 within the context of subsea operations. The course explores the development of Integrity Management Plans, the execution of subsea inspections using Remotely Operated Vehicles, and the interpretation of complex data for risk-based decision making. By examining case studies of both successful maintenance programs and historical failures, the program provides a comprehensive guide to navigating the regulatory, environmental, and technical challenges inherent in deepwater and shallow-water pipeline operations.

COURSE OBJECTIVES:

After completion of this course, the participants will be able to:

  • Define the core principles and regulatory requirements of subsea pipeline integrity management.
  • Identify and categorize various internal and external degradation mechanisms specific to the marine environment.
  • Develop a comprehensive Risk-Based Inspection plan tailored for underwater pipeline networks.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of different subsea inspection techniques, including Intelligent Pigging and cathodic protection surveys.
  • Analyze the impact of free spans, scouring, and seabed mobility on pipeline structural stability.
  • Implement effective corrosion control strategies using chemical inhibition and advanced coating systems.
  • Interpret data from Remotely Operated Vehicles and Autonomous Underwater Vehicles for anomaly detection.
  • Conduct Fitness-for-Service assessments based on identified defects and operational history.
  • Establish Performance Standards and Key Performance Indicators for monitoring pipeline health.
  • Design emergency repair strategies and contingency plans for subsea containment loss.
  • Execute life extension studies for aging subsea assets beyond their original design life.
  • Coordinate multi-disciplinary teams to ensure seamless data integration and integrity reporting.

TARGET AUDIENCE:

This course is designed for Pipeline Engineers, Subsea Integrity Specialists, Offshore Operations Managers, Maintenance Supervisors, Corrosion Engineers, and Regulatory Compliance Officers. It is also highly beneficial for Technical Leads and Project Managers involved in the design, operation, and maintenance of offshore oil and gas transport systems who require a deeper understanding of underwater asset protection.

TRAINING COURSE METHODOLOGY:

A highly interactive combination of lectures, discussion sessions, and case studies will be employed to maximize the transfer of information, knowledge, and experience. The course will be intensive, practical, and highly interactive. The sessions will start by raising the most relevant questions and motivating everybody to find the right answers. The attendants will also be encouraged to raise more of their questions and to share in developing the right answers using their analysis and experience. There will also be some indoor experiential activities to enhance the learning experience. Course material will be provided in PowerPoint, with necessary animations, learning videos, and general discussions.

The course participants shall be evaluated before, during, and at the end of the course.

COURSE CERTIFICATE:

National Consultant Centre for Training LLC (NCC) will issue an Attendance Certificate to all participants completing a minimum of 80% of the total attendance time requirement.
