Applied Corrosion Monitoring, Prevention and Control in Oil and Gas

11 – 15 May 2026, Abu Dhabi07 – 11 Sep. 2026, Abu Dhabi

COURSE OVERVIEW:

Applied corrosion monitoring, prevention, and control in the oil and gas industry is a critical technical discipline focused on protecting infrastructure from the aggressive chemical environments found in production and processing. This course provides a practical framework for identifying corrosion threats and implementing a multi-layered defense strategy. By understanding the specific mechanisms of degradation from wellbore to refinery, participants can significantly reduce the risk of leaks, environmental damage, and unplanned facility shutdowns.

The scope of this training includes the selection and application of corrosion-resistant materials, the design of chemical inhibition programs, and the implementation of cathodic protection. Participants will explore the latest advancements in real-time monitoring technologies, allowing for the immediate detection of changes in corrosive conditions. The curriculum emphasizes the integration of monitoring data with process control, enabling a proactive approach to integrity management that balances operational efficiency with asset longevity.

Coverage includes specialized topics such as microbiologically influenced corrosion, CO2 and H2S attack, and the management of corrosion under insulation. The course provides a detailed look at the laboratory and field testing methods used to verify the effectiveness of control strategies. By the end of this program, attendees will be equipped to develop and manage a comprehensive corrosion control plan that meets the unique challenges of the upstream, midstream, and downstream sectors of the energy industry.

COURSE OBJECTIVES:

After completion of this course, the participants will be able to:

  1. Identify common corrosion mechanisms in oil and gas production and transport.
  2. Evaluate the corrosivity of various process fluids based on chemical analysis.
  3. Select appropriate corrosion monitoring probes and coupons for specific services.
  4. Interpret real-time data from electrical resistance and linear polarization probes.
  5. Design and oversee chemical inhibitor injection and dosing programs.
  6. Assess the effectiveness of oxygen scavengers and biocides in water systems.
  7. Apply the principles of cathodic protection to pipelines and storage tanks.
  8. Monitor and maintain sacrificial anode and impressed current systems.
  9. Select corrosion-resistant alloys (CRAs) for high-pressure and high-temperature service.
  10. Implement strategies to prevent and detect Corrosion Under Insulation (CUI).
  11. Manage the risks of Microbiologically Influenced Corrosion (MIC) in stagnant lines.
  12. Conduct root cause analysis of corrosion-related failures in process equipment.
  13. Develop a comprehensive corrosion management manual for an oil and gas facility.

TARGET AUDIENCE:

This course is intended for corrosion engineers, integrity technicians, chemical treatment supervisors, production engineers, and maintenance managers responsible for the durability of oil and gas assets.

TRAINING COURSE METHODOLOGY:

A highly interactive combination of lectures, discussion sessions, and case studies will be employed to maximise the transfer of information, knowledge, and experience. The course will be intensive, practical, and highly interactive. The sessions will start by raising the most relevant questions and motivating everybody to find the right answers. The attendants will also be encouraged to raise more of their questions and to share in developing the right answers using their analysis and experience. There will also be some indoor experiential activities to enhance the learning experience. Course material will be provided in PowerPoint, with necessary animations, learning videos, and general discussions.

The course participants shall be evaluated before, during, and at the end of the course.

COURSE CERTIFICATE:

National Consultant Centre for Training LLC (NCC) will issue an Attendance Certificate to all participants completing a minimum of 80% of the total attendance time requirement.
