Advanced Applications in Thermography Inspection and Analysis

01 – 05 June 2026, Dubai19 – 23 Oct. 2026, Abu Dhabi

COURSE OVERVIEW:

Advanced thermography inspection and analysis represents a sophisticated predictive maintenance discipline that utilizes infrared radiation patterns to evaluate the thermal health of industrial systems. This technology transcends simple heat detection by providing a visual and quantitative map of temperature distributions, allowing for the identification of anomalies that are invisible to the naked eye. In the modern industrial context, advanced thermography is an indispensable tool for preventing unplanned downtime and optimizing the energy efficiency of complex thermal processes.

The scope of this course covers the intricate physics of heat transfer, including radiation, conduction, and convection, and how these factors influence the accuracy of infrared measurements. Participants will gain a deep understanding of emissivity, reflectivity, and transmittivity, learning how to compensate for challenging environmental conditions and surface characteristics. The curriculum focuses on the use of high-resolution thermal imaging cameras and specialized software to perform detailed analysis of thermal profiles in electrical, mechanical, and building systems.

Coverage includes the development of rigorous inspection protocols and the application of qualitative and quantitative thermography techniques. Participants will explore advanced topics such as active thermography for NDT, transient thermal analysis, and the integration of thermal data into comprehensive asset management programs. By mastering these advanced analytical methods, professionals will be equipped to provide actionable insights that drive reliability improvements and ensure the long-term integrity of critical infrastructure across various industrial sectors.

COURSE OBJECTIVES:

After completion of this course, the participants will be able to:

  1. Explain the laws of thermodynamics and their application to infrared imaging.
  2. Calibrate thermal imaging equipment for varying emissivity and background temperatures.
  3. Identify subtle thermal anomalies in high-voltage electrical distribution systems.
  4. Perform quantitative analysis of heat loss in industrial furnaces and kilns.
  5. Evaluate the efficiency of steam traps and heat exchangers using thermal profiles.
  6. Conduct building envelope surveys to detect insulation voids and moisture ingress.
  7. Use active thermography techniques to identify subsurface defects in composites.
  8. Develop standardized thermal inspection routes for large-scale industrial facilities.
  9. Interpret complex thermograms to distinguish between normal and abnormal heat.
  10. Calculate the severity of faults based on Delta-T criteria and absolute temperatures.
  11. Integrate thermographic data with vibration analysis and oil chemistry results.
  12. Prepare professional reports that justify maintenance actions based on thermal evidence.
  13. Manage a corporate-wide infrared program focused on safety and energy savings.

TARGET AUDIENCE:

This advanced program is designed for maintenance engineers, lead thermographers, facility managers, and reliability professionals who wish to enhance their analytical capabilities in infrared technology.

TRAINING COURSE METHODOLOGY:

A highly interactive combination of lectures, discussion sessions, and case studies will be employed to maximise the transfer of information, knowledge, and experience. The course will be intensive, practical, and highly interactive. The sessions will start by raising the most relevant questions and motivating everybody to find the right answers. The attendants will also be encouraged to raise more of their questions and to share in developing the right answers using their analysis and experience. There will also be some indoor experiential activities to enhance the learning experience. Course material will be provided in PowerPoint, with necessary animations, learning videos, and general discussions.

The course participants shall be evaluated before, during, and at the end of the course.

COURSE CERTIFICATE:

National Consultant Centre for Training LLC (NCC) will issue an Attendance Certificate to all participants completing a minimum of 80% of the total attendance time requirement.
