1. Introduction to Wellhead Equipment

  • Understand the role of wellhead equipment in oil and gas production.
  • Learn about wellhead functions, components, and classifications.
  • Identify industry standards and regulations governing wellhead design (API 6A, ISO 10423, NORSOK, ASME).

2. Wellhead Equipment Components and Functions

  • Learn about major wellhead components and their applications, including:
    • Casing head and casing spools.
    • Tubing head and tubing hangers.
    • Christmas tree and flow control components.
    • Choke valves, gate valves, and actuators.
  • Understand the difference between surface wellheads and subsea wellheads.

3. Wellhead Load, Pressure, and Temperature Considerations

  • Learn how pressure and temperature affect wellhead integrity.
  • Implement load analysis for casing, tubing, and wellhead connection points.
  • Understand high-pressure high-temperature (HPHT) wellhead design considerations.

4. Wellhead Design and Selection Criteria

  • Learn how to select wellhead equipment based on well type, pressure rating, and operational conditions.
  • Understand standard vs. custom-designed wellheads for conventional and unconventional wells.
  • Optimize material selection for corrosion resistance and longevity (CRA, stainless steel, alloy steel).

5. Wellhead Sealing, Gaskets, and Lockdown Mechanisms

  • Understand metal-to-metal sealing technology and elastomeric seals.
  • Learn about gasket and sealing system integrity to prevent leaks.
  • Implement lockdown mechanisms for high-load applications.

6. Installation, Testing, and Maintenance of Wellhead Equipment

  • Learn about proper installation procedures for casing, tubing, and Christmas trees.
  • Understand pressure testing and integrity verification techniques.
  • Implement preventive maintenance strategies to ensure wellhead reliability.

7. Subsea Wellhead Design and Challenges

  • Learn about subsea wellhead configurations and deepwater applications.
  • Understand BOP stack interface requirements and fatigue considerations.
  • Explore innovations in subsea wellhead and tieback systems.

8. Case Studies and Troubleshooting

  • Analyze real-world wellhead failures and their causes.
  • Learn troubleshooting techniques for seal failures, pressure leaks, and structural deformations.
