Course Objectives:

By the end of this training, participants will be able to:

1. Introduction to Vendor Inspection and Testing Plans (ITP)

  • Understand the importance of vendor inspection in procurement and quality control.
  • Identify key objectives of Inspection and Testing Plans (ITPs) in project execution.
  • Learn about vendor inspection roles in various industries (oil & gas, construction, manufacturing, power plants).

2. Developing an Effective Inspection and Testing Plan (ITP)

  • Learn how to structure an ITP based on project requirements and industry standards.
  • Define hold points, witness points, and review points in vendor inspections.
  • Identify critical equipment and materials requiring vendor inspection.

3. Vendor Selection and Qualification Process

  • Understand vendor prequalification criteria, including:
    • Technical capability.
    • Quality management system compliance (ISO 9001, API, ASME, ASTM).
    • Past performance and regulatory compliance.
  • Learn how to conduct vendor audits and factory acceptance testing (FAT).

4. Execution of Vendor Inspection and Testing

  • Learn about onsite and remote vendor inspection methodologies.
  • Understand key inspection techniques:
    • Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) (Ultrasonic, Radiographic, Magnetic Particle, Dye Penetrant).
    • Material Testing (Hardness, Tensile, Impact Testing).
    • Dimensional and Functional Testing.
  • Develop strategies for effective coordination between vendors, inspectors, and project teams.

5. Quality Control and Compliance in Vendor Inspections

  • Learn how to ensure compliance with:
    • API, ASME, ASTM, IEC, and ISO standards.
    • Industry-specific regulations (Oil & Gas, Power, Petrochemical, Construction).
  • Implement document control and reporting procedures for vendor inspections.

6. Vendor Inspection Reporting and Documentation

  • Develop inspection reports, NCRs (Non-Conformance Reports), and corrective action plans.
  • Learn how to track and resolve non-conformance issues with vendors.
  • Understand the importance of inspection certificates and compliance documentation.
