Course Objectives:

By the end of this training, participants will be able to:

1. Introduction to Vendor and Supplier Quality Control

  • Understand the importance of quality control (QC) at vendor and supplier sites.
  • Identify key quality risks in supplier manufacturing and fabrication processes.
  • Learn about supplier quality requirements in different industries (oil & gas, construction, manufacturing, power generation).

2. Developing an Effective Vendor Quality Control Plan

  • Learn how to establish a Vendor Quality Control (VQC) Plan.
  • Define inspection and test plans (ITPs) and quality control points.
  • Implement risk-based quality assessment methods for vendor products and services.

3. Supplier Qualification and Pre-Audit Processes

  • Understand vendor selection and qualification criteria, including:
    • Quality Management System compliance (ISO 9001, ASME, API, ASTM, IEC).
    • Technical capability and production capacity assessments.
    • Past performance evaluations and regulatory compliance checks.
  • Learn how to conduct supplier audits and pre-qualification inspections.

4. Inspection Techniques for Vendor and Supplier Sites

  • Learn about on-site vs. remote inspection methodologies.
  • Understand key inspection techniques, including:
    • Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) (Ultrasonic, Radiographic, Magnetic Particle, Dye Penetrant).
    • Material Testing (Tensile, Hardness, Impact Testing).
    • Dimensional and Functional Testing.
  • Develop strategies for effective coordination between suppliers, inspectors, and project teams.

5. Quality Control Documentation and Reporting

  • Learn how to prepare and review quality documents, including:
    • Material Test Reports (MTRs) and Mill Certificates.
    • Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) Reports.
    • Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and Corrective Action Reports (CARs).
  • Ensure compliance with supplier QC documentation requirements.

6. Regulatory Compliance and Industry Standards

  • Learn how to ensure compliance with:
    • ISO 9001, ASME, API, ASTM, IEC, and other international standards.
    • Industry-specific regulations for oil & gas, power, manufacturing, and construction.
  • Understand the legal and contractual aspects of vendor quality control.

7. Troubleshooting and Case Studies

  • Analyze real-world supplier quality challenges and solutions.
  • Learn problem-solving techniques for vendor quality issues.
  • Apply best practices for improving vendor quality assurance processes.
