Course Objectives:

By the end of this training, participants will be able to:

1. Fundamentals of Production & Completions Engineering

  • Understand the role of production and completions engineering in optimizing hydrocarbon recovery.
  • Learn about well lifecycle management, from drilling to abandonment.
  • Identify key design considerations for completion and production optimization.

2. Well Completion Design and Selection

  • Learn about completion types (open hole, cased hole, multilateral, horizontal, smart completions).
  • Optimize tubing string design, packers, and flow control devices.
  • Select completion fluids and wellbore cleanup techniques for enhanced production.

3. Production Optimization Techniques

  • Implement nodal analysis and inflow performance relationship (IPR) modeling.
  • Learn about artificial lift systems (ESP, gas lift, rod pumps, jet pumps, hydraulic lift).
  • Optimize flow assurance strategies to prevent scaling, wax deposition, and asphaltene precipitation.

4. Well Stimulation and Enhanced Recovery

  • Learn about hydraulic fracturing, acidizing, and matrix stimulation techniques.
  • Understand enhanced oil recovery (EOR) methods, including chemical, thermal, and gas injection.
  • Apply reservoir pressure management techniques for sustained productivity.

5. Sand Control and Reservoir Flow Optimization

  • Analyze sand production issues and control techniques:
    • Gravel packing and frac packing.
    • Standalone screens, expandable screens, and inflow control devices (ICDs).
  • Optimize reservoir flow using intelligent completions and digital well monitoring.

6. Well Integrity and Surveillance

  • Implement real-time pressure monitoring and zonal isolation strategies.
  • Learn about well integrity challenges (casing leaks, corrosion, scale buildup) and mitigation techniques.
  • Utilize downhole surveillance tools (fiber optics, PLT, DTS, and DAS).

7. Digitalization and Data-Driven Production Engineering

  • Explore big data, IoT, and AI-driven analytics for well performance optimization.
  • Implement machine learning models for production forecasting and predictive maintenance.
  • Learn about cloud-based production monitoring and real-time decision-making systems.

8. Case Studies and Troubleshooting Techniques

  • Analyze real-world production challenges and solutions.
  • Develop problem-solving strategies for completion failures, declining production rates, and reservoir pressure drops.
  • Apply best practices for field development and production system optimization.
