Course Overview:

On completing this course successfully, the participants will be able to:

  Provide an overview of Surveillance platforms, techniques, technology and safety.

  Understand requirements of an effective  surveillance

  Identify real oil on water and misleading  natural phenomena

  Assess the location and extent of oiling from the air and quantify the oil observed

  Identify the data from satellites and modelling outputs, learning how this, along with fates of oil spills at sea, can influence the type and location of aerial surveillance missions

  Understand the importance of communicating findings back to the incident management team.
