Course Objectives:

By the end of this training, participants will be able to:

1. Introduction to Analyzer Shelter Safety Systems

  • Understand the purpose and importance of analyzer shelters in industrial applications.
  • Identify key hazards associated with analyzer shelters, including toxic and flammable gases, fire, and explosion risks.

2. Hazardous Area Classification & Regulatory Compliance

  • Classify hazardous areas (Zone 1, Zone 2, Class I Div 1, Class I Div 2).
  • Understand regulatory standards and guidelines (IEC 60079, NFPA 496, API RP 500/505, OSHA, ATEX, IECEx).

3. Gas Detection & Ventilation Systems

  • Design gas detection systems for detecting flammable and toxic gases.
  • Implement ventilation strategies to prevent gas accumulation.
  • Understand alarm systems and automatic shutdown integration.

4. Fire & Explosion Protection

  • Learn fire detection and suppression methods (FM-200, CO₂, water mist).
  • Design explosion-proof shelters using pressurization and purging systems.
  • Select appropriate fire-resistant materials and equipment.

5. Electrical & Grounding Safety

  • Design intrinsically safe (IS) and explosion-proof (Ex) electrical systems.
  • Implement proper grounding and bonding to prevent static discharge.
  • Ensure backup power and emergency shutdown capabilities.

6. Personnel Safety & Emergency Response

  • Develop emergency response plans and evacuation procedures.
  • Understand PPE requirements for working in hazardous environments.
  • Implement emergency shutdown systems and manual intervention options.

7. Environmental Protection & Compliance

  • Understand emission control and waste management in analyzer shelters.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental regulations.
  • Implement best practices for minimizing environmental impact.

8. Maintenance, Testing & Troubleshooting

  • Develop preventive maintenance strategies for safety systems.
  • Identify common faults in gas detection, ventilation, and fire suppression systems.
  • Perform system testing and verification to ensure operational reliability.
