Course Overview:

This foundational course introduces Tricon™ and Tricon CX systems designed for use in emergency safety shutdown and other critical applications that require Safety Integrity Level 1, 2 or 3 as defined in the IEC 61508 standard on functional safety. The course focuses on how to assemble hardware components to build a Tricon system and set communication modules. The course also describes how to monitor the status of Tricon and Tricon CX systems using the Enhanced Diagnostic Monitor (EnDM).

Course Outline:

  Triple Modular Redundant (TMR) architecture.

  Features and functions of Tricon and Tricon CX controllers.

  Hardware components in Tricon and Tricon CX controllers.

  Configure field devices using the AI+HART module in Tricon CX controllers.

  Install a Tricon system.

  Monitor the Tricon system using EnDM.

  Monitor HART devices in Tricon CX controllers.

  Analyze Tricon hardware using events, the Events Summary pane, and the Events log file.
